fidentity joins OpenBankingProject.ch
Focusing on open standards, strong partnerships and digital security
fidentity AG is now part of the OpenBankingProject.ch community. This Swiss initiative actively drives digital transformation in the financial sector by bringing together banks, FinTechs, RegTechs and technology providers.

Founded in February 2019, OpenBankingProject.ch is supported by key players such as the Business Engineering Institute St. Gallen, Avaloq, Finnova, Hypothekarbank Lenzburg, DXC Technology, Ergon, and the University of Bern. The initiative aims to establish a one-stop platform for financial professionals, consolidating tools and expertise around open banking.
A core element of the project is the development of widely accepted and interoperable components—such as APIs—for implementing open finance in Switzerland. Recently, the initiative has placed a strong focus on digital customer proximity: connecting banks with all aspects of a customer’s life. This allows customers to access banking products, services and data seamlessly within third-party customer journeys via APIs or wallet technologies.
What is Open Banking?
Open banking means that banks make their data and services accessible to third-party providers via standardised interfaces (APIs) – always with the customer’s consent.
This opens up opportunities for:
- New services such as budgeting apps, comparison platforms or smart payment solutions
- More choice and convenience for customers
- Ecosystems made up of banks, FinTechs and technology partners
While open banking is mandated by regulation (PSD2) in the EU, Switzerland follows a market-driven approach. Initiatives like OpenBankingProject.ch promote coordination and innovation in this space.
